Job Summary
-

Debut is looking for a Consultant to join our new consulting team, under the direction of the President, Chief Creative Officer, and Director of Consulting.

This role, will primarily be responsible for leading communications mandates and providing clients with strategic business recommendations on how to better engage with their customers or employees.

The Consultant will be act as client lead, supported by both world-class scientists and heavy-hitting creatives, developing engagement strategies that are both innovative and grounded in behavioral insights.

As this role is new, you will have the opportunity to shape the position as we continually learn and improve. Duties may change slightly from those listed below as the role is refined over time.

 

Job Duties
-

Account Management

  • Build strong relationships with clients

  • Identify business opportunities within new and existing files

  • Grow knowledge and understanding of client industries (mostly pharma, tech, and financial services)

  • Day-to-day management of account (scheduling, deliverable follow ups, etc.)
  • Manage budgets, ensuring client needs are met and Debut’s margins are maintained

  • Present an image of Debut that represents our reputation of high integrity and professionalism

  • Participate in and manage pitches and presentations

  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and relevant trends
     

Strategic Consulting

  • Develop communications materials based on research. This can range from detailed comms plans to newsletters, website copy, social media calendars. Really anything you feel translates the data to the clients’ desired outcome or behaviour change.

  • Create and deliver reports for clients (mostly Fortune 500 pharma and tech companies) on how to better engage with customers or employees

  • Present recommendations to different levels of leadership within client organizations

  • Understand client’s business challenges and scope project plans that address their greatest needs

  • Adapt and apply Debut’s proprietary consulting method to solve clients’ business challenges

  • Collaborate with your friendly Debut colleagues on the creative production and behavioral science teams to create engagement strategies infused with both creative design elements and behavioral insights

  • Collaborative – Works productively with brilliant minds from the creative and scientific teams, synthesizing their ideas in a client friendly manner to create clear strategic recommendations

  • A Creative Problem Solver - Breaks down situations into smaller pieces to identify key issues and determine cause and effect relationships. Arrives at realistic, yet potentially “out of the box” solutions by logically applying multiple analytical methods.

  • Pragmatic - Make recommendations that are feasible within client budget and timeline

Key Skills
-

  • Client Management - Able to convey authority, warmth, and professionalism in client interactions

  • Time Management - Balances a myriad of tasks; prioritizes duties as needed.

  • Business Savvy - Understand basic business concepts like P&L, business plans, reporting structures, etc.

  • Technology Use – Be comfortable operating in a Mac-based environment, with both Microsoft Office and Apple software (e.g. Keynote). Experience with Wrike is also an asset.  

  • Report creation - Ability to communicate ideas through slides and reports (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Keynote)

Experience
-

  • Minimum Bachelors degree in a human-centred field such as Psychology, Neuroscience, Communications, or Social Science

  • 3-5 years of client-facing management consulting experience or corporate communications, preferably at a large firm

  • Previous work in experience design is considered an asset
